All elements located on the left side of the periodic table highlighted in pink are Metals. Metals are conductors of electricity and heat. They are lustrous, ductile, and malleable; they can be hammered or pressed into thin sheets or foils. All Nonmetals, in contrast, are highlighted in blue located on the upper right of the periodic table. They are not lustrous and are poor conductors of both electricity and heat. Nonmetals can be any of the 3 states of matter; solid, liquid, or gas, at room temperature or pressure. Separating the Metal and Nonmetal elements are the Metalloids. They are all highlighted in green. Metalloids display properties in-between Metals and Non-Metals.
